CLINICAL GUIDE · UPDATED 30 OCTOBER 2026

What to know before you decide.

A considered approach to the shape, shade and balance of your smile.

Veneers are restorations placed over the visible surfaces of selected teeth. They may be discussed for concerns involving colour, shape or small defects, but the condition of the teeth and gums comes first. Planning includes how the teeth meet, the available enamel and the changes you hope to achieve. The amount of preparation and the choice of material depend on the individual case. A veneer is not maintenance-free, and teeth that are prepared may need ongoing restoration in the future. At your consultation, discuss alternatives such as whitening, bonding, orthodontic care or crowns where appropriate.

Assessment comes first

Your goals, relevant health history and the condition of the treatment area are reviewed before suitability is confirmed. An online guide cannot replace that examination.

Alternatives and limits

The consultation compares reasonable alternatives and explains what this treatment can and cannot address. Outcomes and recovery differ between people.

Plan and fees

Your plan and fees are explained after assessment, before you decide to proceed. The approach is selected for your needs rather than from a universal package.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions worth asking.

Are veneers the same as crowns?

No. A veneer mainly covers the front of a tooth, while a crown covers more of the tooth. The choice depends on the tooth's condition and the purpose of treatment.

Can everyone have no-prep veneers?

No. The available space, alignment and intended changes determine whether a conservative or no-preparation approach is appropriate.
